If you’re here, you probably remember the 80’s, and remember them well.
We’re Bobby Catalano and Jason Pascoe, and once upon a time we were on a super popular 80’s dance show on the USA Network. Bobby got there first in 1985 and wound up hosting the party from ’89 to ’91; Jason was the co-conspirator-in-chief in the studio from ’86 to ’88, back when the whole country was watching. Between the two of us, you could say we have a masters in the whole 80’s party experience, and we have the pictures of the hair, the clothes and the piles of sunglasses to prove it.
What a crazy world we live in where a pair of guys like us can share: Bobby’s favorite word, stories, experiences and thoughts with you. Over the years we’ve been asked tons of times about all kinds of stuff, and the podcast is where we finally give the answers. Not only that, living in Las Vegas brings a whole slew of cool topics, places and trends to kick around.

Keepin’ it fun, fresh and interesting is what we have on the plate, the movies, tv, music and pop culture you thought would always last (parachute pants anybody?). If it happened in the 1980’s, we’re sure to have some interesting conversation on it. And if we were in the room when it happened? Even better.

Bobby Catalano joined Dance Party USA on the USA Network in 1985 and hosted the show from 1989 to 1991. Jason Pascoe was a regular in the studio from 1986 to 1988. This isn’t a fan site written from old clips. It’s written by two people who stood on that floor while the cameras were on, and who kept the evidence: the master tapes, the air dates, the photos, the receipts.

THE MAN BEHIND THE SHADES
Bobby Catalano
The raspy voice. The shades. The Wham guy. On the show from 1985 and running the party as host from ’89 to ’91. These days you can catch him in Weekend With Bob on Prime Video and holding court on Facebook.
THE CO-CONSPIRATOR
Jason Pascoe
The mullet was real, and it was spectacular. A front row seat to the Golden Age from ’86 to ’88, and Bobby’s friend and co-conspirator ever since. Today he’s the other half of the podcast and the keeper of the archive: every tape, every date, every receipt.
IN THE HOUSE
Marlon Dow
A Dance Party USA regular himself, back on the same floor in the same years. Yo yo yo… the laugh, the smile, the dance moves. When Marlon drops by, the conversation turns to music, movies and television, but the dancing is where it begins and ends. His words. We just agree.
How We Get the 80s Right
Two kinds of things get said on this site. Things we lived: when we tell you what it was like in that studio, that’s memory, firsthand, and we’ll say so. And things we researched: dates, chart positions, box office, who did what and when. Those get checked against the tapes, the trades and the record before they go up. When we get one wrong, we fix it on the page and say we fixed it. That’s the whole policy. We were there for a lot of it, but “trust us, we’re old” is not a source.
Even though Marty used a Delorean, we’re kinda partial to the ’86 Chevy IROC-Z as our time-travel device of choice.
