Zero Cool (1993)
Long before this podcast, Bobby went and made a movie. Zero Cool — a summer-on-the-Jersey-Shore romance about four young adults discovering the joys and pains of love — was shot in 1993, directed by Isaac Zepel Yeshurun, with Bobby starring as Chris alongside Io Perry, Tony Templeton, and Melissa Hickey.
And then the movie business did what the movie business does. Somewhere between the wrap party and the multiplex — distribution deals, timing, the fine print — Zero Cool quietly checked into the vault, the same fate that’s met a thousand good indie films. Nothing went wrong on screen; the screen just never got its turn.
Which, if you think about it, makes this a collector’s item. It lives on IMDb (a very respectable 6.4), on a handful of tapes, and in the clips below — including Bobby’s first on-screen kiss.
So consider this page the premiere — thirty-some years late, red carpet sold separately. The star showed up, and the popcorn’s on us.
